Today, Microsoft revealed that the Xbox One S, a slimmer and redesigned version of its Xbox One console, has got off to an “amazing start” for preorders ahead of its retail release in August.
Announced at this year’s E3 conference, the Xbox One S comes in a striking “robot white” finish and is, according to Microsoft, 40% smaller than the standard version of the console. Under-the-hood enhancements, though minor, include 4K Ultra HD video support and HDR capabilities.
At first, the Xbox One S will be available only as a limited production 2TB version priced at $399. However, two standard versions with storage capacities of 500GB and 1TB will, shortly after the initial launch of the Xbox One S, also head into stores at the respective prices of $299 and $349.
Microsoft has further revealed that each Xbox One S will be bundled with the new Bluetooth-compatible Xbox Wireless Controller – which, starting in August, will also be offered for sale separately at a price of $59.99 in the United States.
