Microsoft released Office 2016, the newest version of its widely-used productivity suite, yesterday – and also revealed an exciting offer enabling a significant saving when buying the software.
The news of this offer came from Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Group. In a new post on the Blogging Windows website, Myerson explained that “if you upgrade to Windows 10 and have Office 2010 or earlier, you can get a 50% discount on a one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal through the pre-installed Get Office app.”
Basically, this means that, if you meet the criteria specified by Myerson, you can use Office 2016 over a year for just $35. Despite the necessity here of Windows 10, an Office 2016 Personal subscription covers use of the apps, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, on Mac, plus complete editing capabilities of Office on iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
This all makes the discount very attractive. There has been no word from Myerson on when the offer will expire, though it could be when the free Windows 10 upgrade offer ends in July.
