Microsoft Release Tools for Apple and Android App Users

Microsoft has attempted to court users of Apple and Android apps by releasing tools that allow people to use them on their devices. Apple and Android app builders will now be able to run code on Windows 10 mobile devices, with only Apple apps requiring a few changes. The news has been met with a mixed response from experts some of who have branded the news as an “imperfect solution” to Microsoft’s ongoing problems.

Microsoft have launched a new initiative called Project Islandwood. A new software interpreter created by the company works with the developer tools favored by most Apple coders. Candy Crush Saga has been ported to Windows by developers using these tools. An initiative called Project Astoria has been launched to enable Android apps to be opened on Windows mobile operating system.

The company is working hard to encourage developers to cater for Windows 10 users. A number of popular apps are completely absent from Windows store. Microsoft was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in 1974. The Washington-based firm has been struggling to compete with Samsung and Apple on the mobile market. It recently acquired Nokia’s mobile phone business in 2013.
