Many people have been eagerly downloading Windows 10 to their PCs in the wake of its launch last week, but what about Windows 10 for smartphones? A specific release date for the separate smartphone version has not been announced, but Microsoft has just revealed which handsets will be the first to receive it.
The first Windows Phones to freely receive Windows 10 will all be in the Lumia line – specifically, the 430, 435, 532, 535, 540, 640, 640 XL, 735, 830 and 930 models. These phones are diverse in their specifications and features, which ensures that owners of smartphones from small budget devices to sophisticated iPhone rivals will have the earliest chances to try the new OS.
However, an owner of one of these phones who wants to download Windows 10 will have to first make sure that they have installed the Lumia Denim update. They can also watch the below video, presented by Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore and posted in February, for a better idea of what they can expect from the version of Windows 10 that will reach phones and small tablets.
