Today, Microsoft started rolling out the Anniversary Update for Windows 10 users – and, with its wealth of new features, it’s the most significant update to Windows 10 yet.
Over 350 million devices globally are now using Windows 10, the Redmond firm’s flagship product. On many of these devices, the most obvious enhancements will be Cortana’s greater role in searches and the – according to Microsoft – speedier and more power-efficient Edge web browser.
However, owners of touchscreen devices will also be able to use Windows Ink, which allows easier on-screen annotating across different apps. For some devices, there’s also the option to use the Windows Hello facial recognition technology to log into websites and apps.
Microsoft has also pledged, in words quoted by The Guardian, “new gaming experiences and new tools for the modern classroom.” Hence, the company has brought new features that will improve the Windows 10 experience for an impressive range of the system’s users.
Microsoft has indicated that anyone running Windows 10 will get all of the new features – though the availability of some will differ due to special hardware requirements – for free.
