Microsoft has, with a new update to the iPhone version of OneNote, claimed that its widely available note-taking app can now be used with greater speed and responsiveness on the Apple Watch.
Though this is very much a minor update which brings the iPhone app to version 15.24, the brief release notes read: “Apple Watch: Have more time on your hands. OneNote is now faster and more responsive on your Apple Watch.” The update might include other, smaller tweaks not mentioned in these notes.
Microsoft’s decision to further speed up OneNote on the Apple Watch is well-timed, however. Just last month, Apple took the veil off watchOS 3 – which, it is pledged, will make using the wearable a faster experience all round when it arrives as a free update for Apple Watch owners this fall.
On Apple’s wearable, OneNote has been carefully designed to take unique advantage of the device’s functionality and small screen. For example, notes that have been pinned in the iPhone app will appear first in the Apple Watch version, while fresh notes can be made through dictation – simply tap the large + button and begin speaking what you want to make quick note of.
OneNote is free to download for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Once installed on your iPhone, you just need to switch it on in the iPhone’s Watch app to make it available on the Apple Watch.
