Microsoft has revealed that its Xbox Play Anywhere initiative, which will enable games to be bought once and enjoyed on both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC platforms, will go live on September 13.
The program, originally announced at the E3 games conference last month, allows players to purchase just one game which is compatible with both platforms but offers a unified experience. For example, progress can be saved to a single file, while just one set of achievements can be tracked.
Furthermore, a game supporting Xbox Play Anywhere will cost the same as a regular game. Still, only downloaded games, not disc games, are part of the initiative, which will require the PC to run the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition update and the console to have the Xbox One summer update.
Microsoft revealed the launch date of Xbox Play Anywhere to Polygon, which also lists many games set to support the initiative – including Gears of War 4, Halo Wars 2 and Forza Horizon 3.
