Apple Pay has today become available in France, the eighth country to get the payment service. In France, owners of supported cards can now register those cards with Apple Pay on eligible devices to more quickly make payments in various bricks and mortar stores and apps.
According to the Apple Pay page on Apple’s French website, the currently supported cards are Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards issued by Banque Populaire, Carrefour Banque, Ticket Restaurant and Caisse d’Epargne. Boon and Orange will soon also support the service.
Retailers accepting Apple Pay at their physical outlets in France include Le Bon Marché, Cojean, Bocage, Dior, Fnac, Louis Vuitton, Flunch, Sephora, Parkeon and Pret. Apple Pay can also be used at any location accepting contactless payments.
In countries in which Apple Pay is available, including the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Australia, Canada, Switzerland and Singapore, cards can be added to the service by tapping “Add Credit or Debit Card” in the Wallet app on the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus and SE or in the Wallet & Apple Pay section of the Settings app on the iPad Air 2, Pro, Mini 3 or Mini 4.
Both in-store and in-app Apple Pay payments can be made on eligible iPhones, while eligible iPads allow only in-app buys and the Apple Watch is restricted to in-store purchases.
