More AirTags references spotted in latest iOS beta

More references to Apple’s long-awaited AirTags have been spotted in the Find My app.

The company’s iOS 14.5 release has been in beta testing for a number of weeks, and now a new Items tab has been added to the Find My app. It’s designed to track non-Apple devices and is an official sign that AirTags will be released in the coming weeks, ahead of iOS 14.5.

Apple first teased a new My Items tab on its Find My app earlier in the month, though the iOS beta was pulled. It’s since been re-released and offers developers their first look at the new area, where the app will be extended to track devices such as keys, wallets, and cars.

“Add accessories or other items that are compatible with Find My,” the Items screen reads.

We don’t know for certain which products will be compatible with the new Find My feature, but we heard earlier in the year that the Belkin SoundForm Pro wireless earbuds will support Find My. It could be that Apple allows competitors like Tile to utilise the platform, too.
