NBC confirms plans to launch Peacock streaming service in July

NBC has shared new information on its upcoming streaming service, Peacock.

Launching July 15, the new streaming service, which will compete with the likes of Apple TV+, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Amazon, and Disney+, will be available in three tiers, two Premium, each offering different features.

The first tier, Peacock Free, will offer users more than 7,500 hours of programming with advertisements, including next-day access to some of the network’s biggest shows.

The free tier will also offer complete access to classic shows, though NBC has yet to comment on which shows will be made available.

Peacock Premium is the company’s paid subscription, available for $4.99 with advertisements and $9.99 without advertisements.

Both offer access to more content that won’t be available on the free tier, including early access to shows and sports, and users who opt for a cheaper $4.99 per month plan will only watch five minutes of advertising per hour.

“Peacock Premium will include non-televised Premier League soccer games beginning in August and Ryder Cup matches in September,” the company said in a statement.

“Late Night fans with earlier bedtimes will be able to watch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon at 8 p.m. ET each day instead of its normal TV time of 11:35 p.m. ET and Late Night with Seth Meyers at 9 p.m. ET instead of waiting until 12:35 p.m. ET.,” the release added.

NBC will make more than 15,000 hours of premium content available to users on its Peacock Premium tier, including more than 600 movies and 400 series.

Law & Order, 30 Rock, and Frasier will be available from day one, and The Office will arrive in 2021.

Already a Comcast or Cox subscriber?
