Netflix has confirmed its intentions to launch a gaming platform, with the first titles released on Android.
Speaking of the news, the company said: “We’re excited to take our first step in launching Netflix games on mobile to the world. Starting today, members everywhere can play five mobile games: Stranger Things: 1984 (BonusXP), Stranger Things 3: The Game (BonusXP), Shooting Hoops (Frosty Pop), Card Blast (Amuzo & Rogue Games), and Teeter Up (Frosty Pop).”
“Whether you’re craving a casual game you can start from scratch or an immersive experience that lets you dig deeper into your favorite stories, we want to begin to build a library of games that offers something for everyone. We’re in the early days of creating a great gaming experience, and we’re excited to take you on this journey with us,” the firm added in a press release.
The company will offer games for free to all subscribers – you won’t need to pay for any in-app purchases and there are no ads, meaning it’s a similar concept to Apple Arcade which retails for $4.99 per month independently.
For users on Android, they can head to the Netflix app and click on a new dedicated games tab, where you’ll be able to download new titles. The company has confirmed that games will be coming to iOS “soon”, but with Apple’s strict policy on making all games available to play on the App Store, we’re not sure how it’ll work just yet.
