Netflix to allow movie and TV downloads for offline viewing

The popular streaming service Netflix is going to allow its users to download videos to smartphones and tablets for viewing on the go. Netflix has always needed an internet connection to give users access to its library of videos, unless they were renting out physical copies, but users have expressed the desire to view their favorite shows offline.

“While many members enjoy watching Netflix at home, we’ve often heard they also want to continue their Strangest Things binge while on airplanes and other places where internet is expensive or limited”, says Eddy Wu, director of product innovation for Netflix.

This feature is available now on both Android and iOS, with many of their original series accessible for offline viewings, such as Orange is the New Black, The Crown and Narcos.
