Netflix to Expand to Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan

65 million people around the globe are already subscribers to the television streaming service Netflix, but that figure could grow much further in 2016 – as the company has announced its intentions to launch in South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan in early 2016.

Reed Hastings, Netflix’s chief executive officer, has enthused that “increasing Internet speeds and ubiquity of connected devices provides consumers with the anytime, anywhere ability to enjoy their favorite TV shows and movies on the Netflix service”, adding: “These four markets well represent those trends.”

Though Netflix has revealed that subscribers in these countries will be able to stream from the company’s huge catalog of high quality TV shows, the company has opted to, until an unspecified future date, stop short of revealing more about pricing and what exact devices will be supported by the service. Netflix launched in Japan earlier this month, and that marked the popular streaming service provider’s debut in Asia.
