Apple’s rumored March media event could include reveals of new 12-inch MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro notebooks, before 15-inch MacBook Pro models arrive in the year’s third quarter.
This can all be judged from a new report by the Taiwan-based DigiTimes. Citing supply chain sources, the news site claims that component manufacturers are expected to start work on the 12-inch and 13-inch models either late in the first quarter or early in the following quarter. This suggests that Apple could announce these MacBooks in March ahead of retail releases a few weeks later.
The production schedule that the same sources cite for 15-inch models is suspect, as the mentioned third quarter spans July to September – an unusual time to update this MacBook Pro line. However, MacRumors suggests that Apple could choose to reveal these models at its Worldwide Developers Conference, which is likely to take place in mid-June, weeks before they hit the market.
The sources also mention new iMac products for this year; however, there are no further details here about these products, which would not be expected to arrive until the fall.
