As we all saw during Apple’s September keynote, the new Apple TV should be a rich and exciting source of not only TV and film, but also game content. In fact, there are good reasons for us to view the new set-top box as a games console capable of seriously challenging the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
In the years that iOS has flourished, the number of top drawer games on the platform has proliferated. Some established games franchises, like Pac-Man and Tomb Raider, have continued their lengthy runs of success on iOS, while the big name Angry Birds series even debuted on the mobile platform.

Those tools include the new Apple TV’s advanced A8 chip and iOS development technologies like Metal. Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services, revealed last month that Disney Infinity and the latest Guitar Hero are already set for the Apple TV.
