A new video that claims to show a new Apple wireless charging device has surfaced, suggesting the Cupertino company is working on its own charging pads.
Apple had previously ventured into wireless charging technology with AirPower, which was designed to charge an iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods at the same time.
The technology was later dropped due to production issues, and it was believed Apple scrapped plans for its own Qi chargers. Since, the company has begun reconsidering a Qi wireless charging pad and has been working on a “less ambitious” project designed for iPhone and AirPods users.
Yesterday, 9to5Mac unveiled a new video leak, supposedly showing off a new Apple accessory which could be a wireless charging pad. It’s possible that the new product is in development and leaked early, though others believe it could be part of Apple’s Made for iPhone initiative and a product from a third-party rather than an Apple-branded device.

What’s more, there’s no word on whether the new device will be for public release.
It’s common for Apple to work on custom hardware for its headquarters and for internal testing, and so the video may show off a product or device that may never see the light of day.
However, several insiders – including reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo – have suggested that Apple is working on its own wireless charging pad, and that it could come before the end of 2020.
Earlier in the year, a leak revealed that the iPhone 12 sported a new circular magnet arraignment, designed to replicate the Apple Watch-like charging experience. It could be that Apple is working on its own charging pad that will facilitate such a new feature.
