Apple’s next line of Pro iPhones, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra, may come with significant upgrades, according to tech analyst Jeff Pu.

In a research note for Hong Kong investment firm Haitong International Securities, Pu outlined his predictions for the iPhone 15 lineup. He believes the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will feature a 3-stacked sensor and 48-megapixel wide lens, similar to the camera in the iPhone 14 Pro models.

The base-level iPhone 15 models are not expected to have a telephoto lens or LiDAR scanner.

Pu also predicts that the iPhone 15 will come with a USB-C port instead of Apple’s proprietary Lightning port, a prediction that has been made by other analysts such as Ming-Chi Kuo.

For the higher-end iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, rumored to be renamed the iPhone 15 Ultra, Pu expects Apple to add a 12-megapixel periscope lens for improved optical zoom.

Kuo has also supported the inclusion of a periscope lens in the iPhone 15 Pro lineup. Pu also predicts that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will come with an A17 chip built with TSMC’s 3-nanometer technology, 8 gigabytes of RAM, and a titanium frame. They may also have Taptic Engine-powered volume and power buttons. The iPhone 15 is anticipated to be released at the 2023 fall Apple event.
