New DJI Drones Can Stream Live Footage to YouTube

Tech firm DJI has updated its range of drones with new models that offer greater control for users. The Phantom 3 quadcopters are easier to take off and land and are able to hold their position without needing a GPS signal, which makes them more suited to indoor use. The app controlling the drones has also been refreshed and now allows live video streaming to YouTube.

DJI is a Chinese company that has become the most successful drone manufacturer. More and more members of the public and businesses are purchasing drones, for a variety of reasons. The company was involved in a scare earlier in 2015 when one of its older models crashed into the White House lawn.

Two new versions of the aircraft have been unveiled, each of them offering different recording capabilities. The more expensive of the two, the Phantom 3 Professional is able to shoot in 4K at 30 frames a second. It offers four times the resolution of 1080p HD. The Phantom 3 Advanced shoots in 1080p at 60 frames a second. The company claims that people will be able to stream footage in 720p quality with virtually no lag as long as the drone is within 1.6 km of its controllers.
