Though Twitter has long offered apps for both iPhone and iPad, they have differed greatly in their interface and features. This is now much less the case, however, as the social media site has just given its iPad app a significant revamp to bring it into line with the feature-rich iPhone app.
In a post to the company’s official blog, Twitter product designer Brendan Donohoe indicates that users of the iPad app will now have the options to “create and see revamped quote Tweets, explore trending topics in search, visit product and place pages, and more”. These changes, he further explains, have been enacted due to the use of a new “framework accommodating a multi-device ecosystem”, which Twitter formally dubs “adaptive UI”.
The fresh approach means that “when we develop a new Twitter feature from now on, we can more easily ship it across multiple devices at once with an experience suitable to each device.” This bodes well for the Twitter app experiences on yet-to-be-announced iOS products such as the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus and especially the large-screened iPad Pro.
