A potential new feature from Instagram allows users to directly share their stories to the Facebook app. After first being spotted by Next Web’s Matt Navarra and Twitter user @mruiandre, the company has confirmed that this feature is in testing.
Facebook added their version of Stories earlier this year but it is still yet to gain the same amount of traction as its Instagram counterpart. It is believed that this move will solve this problem although many users may dislike the fact that the two sites are combined. Since Facebook bought Instagram back in 2012 the two have remained almost separate and although Instagram users have been able to share individual photo and video posts to their Facebook News Feed for some time, no content could travel in the other direction.
Instagram’s stories has a key placement within the app, appearing in a separate bar above normal posts. The company added this feature, a copycat of Snapchat, back in 2016 and its popularity is considered largely down to Snapchat’s slowing growth.
