New iPhones and iPads to be Unveiled at September 9 Event?

We might finally have our first reliable indication of a specific date for when Apple will formally announce long-rumored new iPhones and iPads. BuzzFeedโ€˜s John Paczkowski has reported sources saying that September 9 is the most likely date for Appleโ€™s iPhone event this year.

According to โ€œsources familiar with Appleโ€™s plansโ€, this event is scheduled for the week beginning September 7, with the Wednesday of that week the most probable specific date. Paczkowski has a good track record of predicting event dates, and September 9 was also the day on which Apple revealed its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S handsets last year.

The companyโ€™s new iPhones, which are expected to be the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, should be the biggest attractions. New features that these new devices have previously been reported to be bringing to the iPhone line include a pressure-sensitive Force Touch display and possibly much-improved front and rear cameras.

More surprisingly, sources have also claimed that new iPads are likely to appear at the same event. As, since late 2012, Apple has routinely revealed new iPads in October, it is unclear why the company would have decided on a change for this year. Still, Paczkowski has acknowledged that it remains unclear whether the 12.9-inch โ€œiPad Proโ€ will be shown off at the event alongside an updated iPad Air and iPad Mini.
