A new leak suggests that Appleโs AirTags will launch sooner rather than later.
One Apple user uncovered a hidden tab on the Find My app on the iPhone, which offers the clearest sign yet that Apple is planning to introduce AirTags in the coming weeks ahead.
David Chu took to Twitter to reveal that he had discovered a new Items menu in the app, which can be seen by typing ‘findmy://items’ into Safari on an iOS device running iOS 14.3 on later. Once the link is entered, users can then view the previously-hidden Find My tab.
Itโs also possible to view the hidden tab on macOS devices, running the latest 11.1 release.

Similar to other object trackers such as Tile, AirTags help owners see where their personal belongings are, with keys, wallets, purses, and teddy bears amongst the most common items. When an item thatโs connected to an AirTag goes missing, users will receive a notification and an Ultra-Wideband chip will offer greater location accuracy to help recover it.
The latest leak doesnโt explicitly mention AirTags, but we can say with some degree of certainty that Apple is planning to launch the product in the coming weeks. The company usually holds its first event of the year in March, so the new tracking tags could be released.
