New MacBook Pro Models Remain Set for Reveal This Month

We might be late into October now, but Apple will, says a new report, still be unveiling its eagerly anticipated and much revamped MacBook Pro this month – plus a new 13-inch MacBook Air.

The Japanese site Macotakara claims, citing “a reliable Chinese supplier”, that Apple intends to both announce the new MacBook Pro, expected to get a Touch ID sensor and new dynamic touchscreen bar, and start shipping the machine to retailers before the month is out.

This MacBook Pro will apparently come in the usual 13- and 15-inch sizes and replace all currently available models. Macotakara also suggests that, at the same time as the announcement of this Pro, the 11-inch MacBook Air will be discontinued, and that a new 13-inch Air will be introduced – presumably also this month, though the report doesn’t quite spell this out.

Macotakara continues that the new Pro and Air models will feature USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports, but lack the usual USB-A, MagSafe 2 and Thunderbolt 2 ports.

It remains unclear whether Apple will announce these machines at another media event or through a press release. If it will be the former, Apple should be sending invites out to the press very soon.
