In another example of how Microsoft is continuing to extend the compatibility of its devices with those outside the Redmond firm’s ecosystem, the Microsoft Band 2 has today received a software update allowing each user to directly control music sourced from their smartphone.
The smart band’s small display can show the title of the current selected song above controls for playing or pausing the track or, indeed, skipping forward or back through tracks. To mark the exciting new update, Microsoft also reports having struck a deal with Spotify to allow the smart band’s users to enjoy “the perfect tunes to get you in the holiday spirit this month”.
However, these controls can, the corporation pledges, be used with any music app on a smartphone capable of connecting to the Microsoft Band 2 through Bluetooth. There is, of course, a broad choice of music apps available on iOS, the most obvious being Spotify and Apple Music – either of which should be suitable for providing beautiful sounds to the Microsoft Band 2 through an iPhone.
