New photos of Chicago’s Apple store roof resembling MacBook Air

Apple wows again as the roof of the upcoming Apple store in Chicago resembles a MacBook Air.  The roof thin carbon fibre roof features the same curved edges and rectangular design.

The famous Apple logo

The most recent progress of the installation has been revealed by DNAInfo, which just yesterday published photos and a video of a the famous apple logo being added to the centre of the roof.

The logo was later removed and it is uncertain if it will return as the logo did not feature in the original design.  If it returns, the logo will not be visible from the store, only from the air or from one of Chicago’s many high rise buildings that have an aerial view of the store.

Store design

The roof will be supposed by glass walls, echoing the sleek design of all Apple’s stores.  It spans 20,000 square foot and replaces an abandoned food court, near the iconic Michigan Avenue Bridge.  It is located on the banks of the north side of the river and will include two floors of Apple’s latest products.

The store was originally thought to cost a massive $62 million, one of Apple’s most expensive stores in the US.  It is nearly triple the cost of the San Francisco store, estimated at around $23, which even had to demolish the original building on the site it took over.

When exactly the store will open to customers is still unknown.
