New Recap Feature Added to Twitter

Twitter has added a new recap service for iOS users. The service is designed to help users see relevant and popular tweets quickly. The feature was first talked about in November and allows Apple device owners to see a snapshot of the most talked-about tweets sent since they last logged in. Twitter says the feature will be offered to Android and desktop users soon.

Twitter talked about the new feature in a blog post, saying: “Our goal is to help you keep up – or catch up – with your world, no matter how much time you spend on Twitter. With a few improvements to the home timeline we think we can do a better job of delivering on that promise without compromising the real time nature of Twitter.”

The micro-blogging service’s stock price rose after the new feature was announced. Twitter are thought to be looking for new ways to stop users heading to other social media companies, with the competition being fiercer than ever before. Twitter was launched in 2006 and became a household name in the late 2000s when various high-profile celebrities and other well-known figures started using it.

Are you excited about the new “while you were away” feature? Have you grown tired of endlessly scrolling in order to find tweets that are of interest to you? Tell us your thoughts below.
