Apple is reportedly planning to release its long-awaited AR/VR headset this January.
According to reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company will host a special event at the start of 2023 to announce the new device. However, like the announcement of the original Apple Watch, the device might not go on sale for several months.
It’s thought that hosting an event to announce the product before the launch will both appease investors and ensure customers are prepared for the device. Many believe that this will be Apple’s “next revolutionary product” after the iPhone.
It had previously been suggested that the device will be on sale for around $2,000 to $2,500, so it certainly won’t be an impulse purchase for many. Investors are reportedly concerned that shipments of the new device will be low, and Apple hopes to appease this by focusing on the potential use cases of the device, as well as show off the software ecosystem and focus on some of the hardware specifications.
By launching the first ‘early’ version of the device next year, Apple will begin to ramp up development and production. By 2025, Apple will offer consumers an affordable version to significantly increase its sales and market share in the sector.
