A fresh report from China suggests that Barry Lam, the chairman of major Apple supplier Quanta Computer, has claimed that a second-generation version of the Apple Watch will emerge by June 2016.
The report originated from China’s United Daily News and, according to AppleInsider, alleges that Lam expressed his expectation that shipments of the Apple Watch, the current version of which Quanta has been heavily involved in mass-producing, will rise considerably in 2016. Lam reportedly justified this by citing upgraded hardware and software before the end of that year’s second quarter.
Should this report be given credibility, it would mean that the supposed “Apple Watch 2” should reach the market by June 2016 at the latest. Intriguingly, according to DigiTimes, Quanta declined to comment on Lam’s alleged statements at the company’s recent earnings call.
