New Survey Reveals Increased Interest in Apple Watch Bands

Bands provide a fun and inexpensive way to customize the appearance of an Apple Watch. More owners of the wearable appear to have noticed this, as the popularity of Apple Watch bands has increased in the last few months, according to new findings of research firm Wristly.

Volunteer Apple Watch owners were surveyed on the bands that they have purchased beyond the one that came with their device. The lower-priced Sport bands were found to be most popular; 61% of participants reporting owning one, while 25% claimed to have two or more. Also popular was the Milanese Loop band, with 19% owning one.

Wristly co-founder Bernard Desarnauts has observed that the average number of bands per respondent here is nearly 2 – a fair bit higher than the 1.4 figure recorded by his company in mid-July. He also noted “a strong uptick in the number of Wristly panelists who purchased at least one band from a third-party”, pointing out: “This number was close to zero last July, but the recent availability of compatible bands at all various price ranges has sparked band shopping.”
