New Trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Released

The second official trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the next film in the sci-fi saga to hit cinemas, has been released – and we can enjoy fresh insight into the history of new heroine Jyn.

The trailer was posted to the official Star Wars channel on YouTube earlier today, and shows Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones, going from prisoner to warrior. We also see Mads Mikkelsen as Jyn’s father Galen and Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, who demands: “Save the rebellion. Save the dream!”

There’s no shortage of both drama and action in this new trailer, and yet it’s still likely to provoke questions that probably won’t be answered until the movie hits Australia on December 15 and the United States and United Kingdom the following day. So, what do we actually know?

Basically, that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is not Episode VIII – we’ll have to wait until 2017 for that – but instead the first in a new series of stand-alone Star Wars films lying outside the main narrative. Godzilla’s Gareth Edwards has directed Rogue One, however – so we shouldn’t expect the movie to skimp on the glittering action and spectacle, as the new trailer already hints…
