New Version of Samsung Galaxy J1 Spotted in Dubai Stores

Samsung has made no obvious attempt to hype up the previously rumored 2016 version of its budget Galaxy J1 handset, as the phone has been spotted already on sale in electronic stores in Dubai.

Many tech firms like to really roll out the festivities when revealing their high-end products. Budget products, however, can often be subject to much less fanfare. Samsung hasnā€™t even formally announced the new Galaxy J1, but we now know much about its tech specs.

GSMArena.com has posted a photo of the new handset displayed alongside an in-store notice indicating that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, a quad core 1.3GHz processor, a 4.5-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, 8GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, and 4G LTE connectivity all feature.

As for the price, thatā€™s AED499 ā€“ equivalent to about $135. There has been no official word on when or if it will arrive in the US, but last yearā€™s technically slightly inferior version, pictured above, is still available.
