Nexus 4, Nexus 10, and Android 4.2 “Jelly Bean” Now Available

Hurricane Sandy unfortunately derailed a lot of Google’s planned events. We were going to see the release of some new products (much like Apple does with its big events), but the superstorm put a halt to the festivities. That hasn’t stopped the mecha-developer from seeing its original plans through though, and they haven’t missed a beat so far. Their “scheduled plans” had them unveiling their newest “Nexus” creations to the general public a little over two weeks ago, and although they didn’t get to host a big event, they still managed to feed the information about their new products to the media.

These new devices included the Nexus 4, Google’s new flagship smartphone, and the Nexus 10, their newest 10-inch alternative to the original Nexus 7. Both of these products, including a slightly upgraded Nexus 7, are now available in the Google Play store. This is perfect timing for Google, as they’ll likely receive a sales boost from the impending Holiday season. All of their devices are coming packaged with the brand new Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, which ensures you’ll have access to all of the best applications and tools that Android has to offer.

The Nexus 4 features a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 768. It features an impressive 2 gigabytes of RAM, and is powered by a 1.5-gigahertz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. The phone is also equipped with an 8-mega pixel rear-facing camera, and a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera. It currently ships for a base of USD $299.99, although last time I checked they were sold out. Keep an eye out for more though, as Google will most likely release a ton of them in time for Christmas.

The Nexus 10 posts much more ambitious numbers, with some hailing that it’s going to be the “best tablet on the market.” Its 10-inch screen has a resolution of 2560 x 1600, with a PPI of 300. In comparison, Apple’s newest iPad has a pixel density of 264 PPI. The tablet features a dual-core ARM Cortex A-15 CPU with a quad-core Mali T604 GPU. All of this is accompanied by 2 gigabytes of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. The Nexus 10 ships at a base of USD $399.99.
