Nike+ Apple Watch launches today

Two black smartwatches with fabric bands. The left watch, a Nike+ Apple Watch, shows a "10 Minute Run" workout with an image of a runner and text "with Coach Bennett." The right watch displays a close icon over a kettlebell with the Nike logo. Both watches have black screens and red-accented buttons.

It’s been two weeks since the awesome Apple Watch Series 4 and Apple Watch Hermès have been released and now it’s the turn of the second branded version the Apple Watch Nike+.

The Nike+ version of Apple Watch Series 4 will be available from today. The Apple Watch Nike+ is almost identical to the aluminum version of the Apple Watch Series 4 but with three significant differences.

The Apple Watch Nike+ has the same overall design and price as the aluminum Apple Watch Series 4, including variant options including GPS-only or built-in LTE.

The Apple Watch Nike+ is geared toward athletes, more specifically runners, and comes with the Nike Run Club app pre-installed. The NRC app doesn’t work any differently than on other Apple Watches, but the Apple Watch Nike+ version includes some unique watch faces exclusive to this model.

New face

The Series 4 model of Apple Watch Nike+ also includes a new full screen color version of the special Nike Analog face with Nike’s unique typeface for the numbers around the clock. This features a fixed complication for launching the NRC app.

It also includes a Nike Digital watch face that has a fixed NRC app complication included, two additional small complications, and one bottom wide complication, but this watch face itself is unchanged from the Series 2 and Series 3 models of Apple Watch Nike+.

There are also Nike versions of the Sport bands and Sport Loop bands.

Reflective bands

Nike Sport bands are designed to be more breathable with perforations that won’t trap sweat. These are sold with the Nike watch but are also available separately if you want to adorn your watch with them.

The Nike Sport Loop bands on the Series 4 model are unique this year — and not just their colors. Apple says the Nike Sport Loop bands are made with a special reflective yarn so they shine when exposed to light. The website says: “To help you stand out, Apple Watch Nike+ Series 4 is now available with a Nike Sport Loop band that’s woven with special reflective thread designed to shimmer when light strikes it.”

The new Nike Sport Loop bands with reflective characteristics aren’t sold separately yet, but Apple and Nike have previous for making these available in stores and online around six months after the watch release.

The Apple Watch Nike+ starts at $399 and is available online and in Apple stores now.
