Another year, another Worldwide Developers Conference but this year many were left disappointed with the fact that Apple had failed to release, or even hint at, any new hardware. With that in mind, here’s exactly what wasn’t announced this year.
iPhone SE 2
Despite many expecting it to be all about the software, few were still waiting with baited breath for any mention of the forthcoming iPhone SE 2. It’s now expected that the device will be launched alongside three new notched models in September – the updated iPhone X, iPhone X Plus, and a ‘budget’ iPhone X that is said to replace the iPhone 8.
The iPhone SE debuted way back in March 2016 so it’s definitely due for an upgrade of some sort. There are enough signs in the supply chain that an update is coming, it’s now just a case of when.
MacBooks and iMacs
Although it may be a boring upgrade, moving the Mac computer line to the newest eighth-generation Intel processors would be incredibly easy for Apple to do. There are also still some problematic features on MacBook Pro laptops such as the butterfly keyboard and Touch Bar but whether Apple is reconsidering is another matter. The MacBook Air is also rumored to be getting a comeback model.
iPad Pros
In March, Apple announced the entry-level iPad that was compatible with the Pencil stylus. The idea was that the pricier iPad Pro models could now be teed up for an iPhone X-like style overhaul, perhaps ditching the home button and adding Face ID?
Apple AirPower
This multidevice charging pad was introduced alongside the iPhone X last September and it was announced that it was coming “next year”. So, its not exactly late, but we can assume that Apple would like to get this accessory on our shelves before the first anniversary of its announcement.
