North Korea Denies Being Behind Sony Pictures Leak

Reports are claiming that a North Korean diplomat has said that the recent cyber-attack on Sony Pictures was nothing to do with the country he represents. A number of films were leaked online before their release recently, with many experts predicting that the act was due to a new film about North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un. North Korea has accused Sony Pictures of mocking the leader in the movie, in which two journalists are granted an interview with Jong-Un before the CIA ask them to assassinate him.

The US broadcaster says that the diplomat called the hacking claims ā€œa fabricationā€. A team of security specialists called FireEye have been assigned to investigate the attack alongside the FBI. Comparisons have been made to previous attacks on Sony and South Korea, which both involved similar malicious code.

Films that have been leaked as part of the cyber-attack include the new remake of Annie, although The Interview, which North Korea had called “the most undisguised sponsoring of terrorism as well as a war action” has not appeared online as yet. North Koreaā€™s UN envoy Ja Song-Nam had promised that the country would launch a ā€œmerciless responseā€ if Sony Pictures went ahead and released the film. Another North Korean official simply said ā€œwait and seeā€ after being asked if North Korea were behind the cyber-attack.

Are you worried about what North Korea may do if The Interview is released? Do you think they are responsible for the recent leaks? Tell us what you think below.
