North Korea has failed to deny involvement in the attack on Sony Pictures that led to a number of its most high-profile new titles being leaked before their release. The leaks came after the country said that there would be consequences if the distributor went ahead with a new comedy film about Kim Jong-un.
A spokesman for the North Korean simply said “wait and see” when asked if the country were behind the leaks. North Korea had complained to the UN back in June after hearing about the new film, called The Interview. In the film, Seth Rogen and James Franco play a pair of reporters who have been allowed to speak to Kim Jong Il before the CIA instructs them to assassinate the leader. North Korea described the film’s production as an “undisguised sponsoring of terrorism”.
Films that have been leaked include the new remake of Annie starring Cameron Diaz, though The Interview has not been found online. The FBI are investigating the leak. Sony Pictures are likely to wondering if further cyber-attacks are on their way.
