North Korea Makes New Threats to US Following Interview Saga

North Korea has made a new series of threats to the US following the Sony Pictures cyber-attacks. The country released a statement warning of attacks on the Pentagon, White House and ā€œthe whole US mainlandā€. It has already denied that it was behind the Sony cyber-attacks, in which a number of pre-release movies were leaked online. North Korea have been accused of the cyber-attacks after expressing their fury about a new comedy centered upon Kim Jong-Un, which has now been cancelled.

The US formerly accused North Korea of the attacks just a few days ago. The statement, which was carried by the official Korean Central News Agency, said ā€œThe army and people of the DPRK [North Korea] are fully ready to stand in confrontation with the US in all war spaces including cyber warfare spaceā€.

The statement accused Barack Obama of ā€œrecklessly making the rumorā€ that North Korea were responsible for the attack. The statement came from North Koreaā€™s highest body, the National Defence Commission.

The offending comedy, The Interview, was due for releases in cinemas on Christmas Day but was cancelled after a number of cinemas decided not to show it. In the film, two journalists who have been offered the chance to meet Kim Jong-Un, are asked by the CIA to assassinate him. Reports say that Sony is looking into new ways to release the movie.
