North Korea Makes New Threats to US Following Interview Saga

North Korea has made a new series of threats to the US following the Sony Pictures cyber-attacks. The country released a statement warning of attacks on the Pentagon, White House and “the whole US mainland”. It has already denied that it was behind the Sony cyber-attacks, in which a number of pre-release movies were leaked online. North Korea have been accused of the cyber-attacks after expressing their fury about a new comedy centered upon Kim Jong-Un, which has now been cancelled.

The US formerly accused North Korea of the attacks just a few days ago. The statement, which was carried by the official Korean Central News Agency, said “The army and people of the DPRK [North Korea] are fully ready to stand in confrontation with the US in all war spaces including cyber warfare space”.

The statement accused Barack Obama of “recklessly making the rumor” that North Korea were responsible for the attack. The statement came from North Korea’s highest body, the National Defence Commission.

The offending comedy, The Interview, was due for releases in cinemas on Christmas Day but was cancelled after a number of cinemas decided not to show it. In the film, two journalists who have been offered the chance to meet Kim Jong-Un, are asked by the CIA to assassinate him. Reports say that Sony is looking into new ways to release the movie.
