Adding to the plaudits for the PlayStation VR headset, Oculus VR’s head of content Jason Rubin, who has a long history of association with Sony, has declared the PlayStation VR “awesome”.
Rubin, whose subsidiary under Facebook makes the competing Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, told GameSpot that he has sampled some of the PSVR’s software, enthusing: “I think PSVR is awesome, and I think the fact that a lot of console players are going to play in VR is going to be awesome. I think what they’re doing with their content, investing in the ecosystem, is fantastic.”
Rubin incorporated the respected games development studio Naughty Dog in 1984 before leaving in 2004, three years after it was acquired by Sony. He revealed to GameSpot that Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios and producer of Naughty Dog classics Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter, had recently tested out some Oculus VR products.
Rubin added: “I’m so happy that Sony is out there pushing this forward. I see no negatives. Right now, we’re all driving forward.” And gamers look set to be the ultimate winners.
