Open the Get Windows 10 app on your Windows 7 or 8.1 PC, and you should see 11:59pm indicated as the expiry time. This refers to whenever 11:59am arrives in your own time zone, just to prevent any confusion. However, the update’s availability won’t necessarily go at precisely this time…
A Microsoft representative has told Tom’s Hardware that, “due to the complexity of closing down the free upgrade offer”, the free upgrade “may be available longer in certain areas”. However, Microsoft “does not guarantee any upgrades attempted after the stated end date (and time) will work”.
So, if you’re eligible for free Windows 10 and want it, then grab it now. Many Mac users, meanwhile, can look forward to a free upgrade to macOS Sierra later this year.
