Office 2016 for Mac Updated with Bug and Security Fixes

Microsoft has updated Office 2016 for Mac with a wealth of bug and security fixes and feature enhancements. This has included addressing vulnerabilities that could have led to remote code execution had a user opened a specially crafted Office file.

Users of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook also now have access to new Chinese and Japanese default fonts, and can add modules and references and use debug shortcuts in the Visual Basic Editor.

Other tweaks include, in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, the ability to customize the ribbon using ribbon customization XML and, in Outlook, better VoiceOver support for weather in Calendar. Outlook and Word get a significant proportion of the improvements and additions; in the latter, it is now possible to use custom page sizes in Page Setup and see numbers longer than two digits in the Number of Pages option when placing Headers or Footers.

These updates are available for Mac users with a valid Microsoft Office 365 subscription and OS X Yosemite or later, and can be downloaded through AutoUpdate within each app.
