Microsoft’s overhauled Outlook.com, announced in February, is now available for almost 90% of the cloud email service’s active users, the Redmond company has revealed.
The Outlook.com revamp brings several new features to Microsoft’s web-based email client – including a Office 365-based infrastructure, a more intelligent address book, and a better experience when connecting to Outlook.com from the Windows or Mac app versions of Outlook.

In a post on the official Microsoft Office blog, it was indicated that all Outlook.com users would get the overhauled Outlook.com “soon”. However, recently, an error message suggested that some users might not actually get it until “the first half of 2017”.

Microsoft has now explained to The Register that the date specified by this error message is incorrect. The company added that “we’re updating this message to reflect the latest migration schedule. We are in the final stages of the Outlook.com migration, with nearly 90% of our active users already migrated.”
However, the company admitted: “A small percentage of our active users will take additional time to migrate, based on certain features they are using like shared calendars.” Microsoft has not specified exactly when these users will get updated, but it looks like it should happen before the year is out.
