Pandora has confirmed that it will support HomePod and HomePod mini.
The company updated its iOS app today (November 3) to add HomePod integration for the first time, following Apple’s announcement that Pandora would be available on HomePod.
Now, users who subscribe to Pandora can use their HomePod or upcoming HomePod mini to listen to their favorite music and audio content, away from the Apple Music ecosystem.
Before iOS 14, HomePod only worked with Apple Music, and users who wanted to play tracks from third-party music streaming services had to rely on AirPlay, which was frustrating.
Pandora says that HomePod integration requires you to run the latest version of the app.
Once you’ve updated, you can head to your Profile, click on Settings, Connect with HomePod, and then Use in Home. You can then request music to be played on HomePod by adding the “on Pandora” command when you speak to Siri on a HomePod or HomePod mini.
It’s also possible to make Pandora the default streaming service ahead of Apple Music, by opening the Home app on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, tapping the Home icon, clicking Home Settings, then tapping your avatar and then changing your default music provider. Rivals like Spotify will no doubt introduce HomePod support in the coming weeks and months.
