Apple has confirmed that those paying for Apple TV+, either standalone or via an Apple One subscription, will receive a $4.99 credit for each month they’ve been charged through June.
The company will apply the credit to subscribers’ Apple IDs each month automatically, and the funds can be used towards future Apple subscriptions or games, movies, and music.
Apple last issued credits for Apple TV+ back in November 2020, promising that Apple TV+ would be free until January. The extension of this offer now means that the service will be free for another five months, meaning users don’t have to pay for Apple’s exclusive shows.
Apple TV+ has struggled to make an impact in today’s streaming wars, in part due to its lack of original content. Unlike Netflix and Amazon, which each offers subscribers access to thousands of original movies and television shows, Apple has just a handful of titles right now.
The company says that the new promotion is designed to give subscribers “more time to check out the latest Apple content,” though it was originally a thank you to subscribers.
