Pebble Smartwatches Get Better Heart Rate Tracking and More

Pebble 2-Series or Time-Series smartwatches can now, with a new firmware update, benefit from a speedier interface, improved heart rate tracking, and syncing with the Reminders app on iOS.

The new interface lets you see the time, your step count, and that day’s step progress on the watch face. 2-Series devices also now display heart rate here, and get on-wrist and in-app heart rate zones which record the body’s time in Fat Burn, Endurance, and Performance HR zones.

With 2-Series watches, third party phone apps like Runkeeper can, through Bluetooth connectivity, use the heart rate monitoring to record, sync and visualize pulse data, while fitness apps sending live workout data to the watch can visualise heart rate data from it.

Furthermore, for both these and Time-Series watches, voice reminders made on the watch can also appear in your iPhone’s Reminders app. Marking an item ‘Done’ on either the watch or iPhone will sync to the other device.

If you have both an iPhone and one of these Pebble watches, you can get these new features and improvements by updating the Pebble app to version 4.3 before, within the app, updating the watch by hitting Menu, then Support, then Update Your Pebble.
