The live video streaming platform Periscope is introducing a number of new features which will make use of the service on iOS, Android and various websites even more fun and accessible.
One of these features, called Highlights, will give each Periscope broadcast an automatically generated short trailer, allowing users to catch the best bits of a broadcast they have missed since the previous day. A range of unspecified “signals” are used to discern which parts of a broadcast should make the trailer.
Meanwhile, from today, Periscope users will be able to more easily have their live broadcasts play on a range of websites simply by embedding the feeds into Tweets. The broadcasts will then play on websites that have embedded these Tweets into their own webpages.
Finally, in the Periscope app on both Android and iOS, live broadcasts will autoplay without sound in the Watch Tab and Global Feed, allowing users to see what’s going on globally immediately upon opening the app. They can then tap a broadcast for the complete live experience.
The Highlights feature will arrive on iOS and Android “in the next few days”, while autoplay “will be available on Android first with iOS coming soon.”
