Pharrell Williams and One Direction are among the stars set to headline the Apple Music Festival in London next month, Apple has announced. Florence + The Machine and Disclosure will also be performing at the ten-night festival at the UK capital’s Roundhouse.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, has explained that his company “wanted to do something really special for music fans this year”. The event will take place from September 19 to September 28, and is a continuation of the annual iTunes Festival, renamed in honor of the recently-launched streaming service Apple Music.
Williams has expressed his gratitude at being booked for the festival, before describing the Roundhouse as “such a historic venue … there’s always a special energy in the crowd. Thank you for having me!” Meanwhile, on behalf of the whole of One Direction, member Niall has said “we can’t wait to perform for our fans in the Roundhouse and around the world on Apple Music!”
UK residents can win tickets by applying through Apple Music and media partners including the London Evening Standard. It will also be possible for Apple Music users around the world to freely view performances live and on-demand, while there will be coverage on radio station Beats 1 and backstage news on Apple Music Connect. Looks like we’re in for one very big party…
