Pizza Hut Announces Chatbot for Ordering via Social Media

Ordering food from the world’s leading pizza restaurant chain should soon be even easier, as Pizza Hut has announced a new chatbot for speedily making orders over Facebook Messenger and Twitter.

This new ordering platform, set to be integrated into Pizza Hut social media accounts this fall, will enable users to chat directly with these accounts to reorder favorite or saved menu choices from any US-based Pizza Hut outlet. They will also get access to deals and promotions specific to each restaurant.

Upon the platform’s launch, customers on Facebook Messenger can “friend” a Pizza Hut account, thereby significantly lowering the information they need to input for ordering. With confirmation of the order, Pizza Hut will, within the social media chat, notify the customer, who can then pick up their food just like they could have had they made their order through the traditional online system.

It’s a very streamlined arrangement that seems especially well-tailored to mobile platforms, not least as it removes a lot of the friction and convolution that can too often accompany online ordering.
