PlayStation 4 Pro Now on Sale at Retailers Across the World

The PlayStation 4 Pro, Sonyā€™s beefed-up version of its market-leading PlayStation 4 console, is now available to purchase from major retailers in North America and other global territories.

In a post on the official PlayStation blog today, Sony highlighted key advantages of the Pro, including the ā€œdynamic 4K visualsā€ that it can bring to games and ā€œboosted processing power that makes games run smoother than everā€. Indeed, from today, over 40 PS4 games ā€“ including Uncharted 4: A Thiefā€™s End and The Last of Us Remastered ā€“ support the Proā€™s new tech not featured in the original PS4 console.

Sony added that, on the Pro, the Netflix app now supports 4K streaming and provides access to hundreds of hours of films and TV shows that can be viewed in 4K resolution. Meanwhile, itā€™s now that, for the new console, YouTube also supports 4K content and Hulu provides best-in-class video services.

Nonetheless, Shawn Layden, President of Sony Interactive Entertainment America, has emphasized that ā€œmaintaining one central PS4 community is incredibly important to usā€, pointing out that ā€œall games and gameplay features will be available on both PS4 Pro and the standard PS4ā€.

This, he added, means that ā€œyou never have to worry about missing out on the next big game or not being able to play with a friend online.ā€ If you want to pick up the PlayStation 4 Pro, itā€™s now available and priced at $399 in the United States.
