Pokémon GO Now Rolling Out Across the World on iOS App Store

Pokémon GO, an augmented reality addition to the long-running Pokémon game series, is now rolling out globally on the iOS App Store. The game has launched in the United States, New Zealand and Australia, but other parts of the world seem to be still waiting…

Through use of augmented reality, the game allows players to take their devices into the real, outside world to go looking for Pokémon. As in other Pokémon games, the collectible creatures spotted in the wild can be captured with PokéBalls and then trained, swapped and pitted in battles.

The type of Pokémon you could find often depends on where you are looking; water Pokémon, for example, can be commonly spotted near bodies of water. When wandering somewhere where a wild Pokémon is nearby, the player can be notified through their devices.

While, according to TouchArcade, the game might now be available for Android in all regions, our own checks suggest that the roll-out is still ongoing on iOS. Pokémon GO is free to download, but includes in-app purchases. Meanwhile, developer Niantic, Inc. has indicated that the game is optimized for smartphones but not tablets, though it should still be playable on the latter.
